Truths About Fat Loss

Let’s talk about fat loss. It’s probably one of the things I discuss the least on social media because I think our culture is obsessed with looking smaller and using a number on the scale to measure their success and self-worth. So I don’t like to focus on it, but the program IS called FASTer Way to Fat Loss, so here are some myths and facts:

False:
🚫There are “fat loss” specific exercise moves
🚫You can target a specific area of your body, work that area and lose fat only in that area (i.e. ab workouts to build abs)
🚫More cardio is the answer to fat loss
🚫 If I drink this special magic tea I will lose fat
🚫 I can use the scale to measure fat loss

True:
💪🏼 Muscle burns fat. This is why we focus on strength training in the FASTer Way.
💪🏼 Intermittent fasting promotes muscle retention and fat loss
💪🏼 Abs are made in the kitchen, which is why the FASTer Way has a large focus on nutrition strategies that are sustainable
💪🏼 Supplements will cause you to lose weight initially but you’ll also lose muscle, causing a decrease in metabolism. Also, statistically speaking you won’t stick to it.
💪🏼 The scale doesn’t tell you your body composition (unless it actually does 😂). Muscle is more dense than fat, so you can weigh the same but look very different.

If you’ve fallen for any of these myths, it’s not your fault! We are inundated with fad diets and quick fixes. If only it were that easy!

What are some myths you’ve been told in the past about weight loss or fat loss?
